The purpose of this site is to showcase our ANNUAL COLLECTORS ARMS SHOW, which is the premier event of its' type in this Country, and is held on the third weekend of October in Fort Worth Texas , and our ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING which is held on the fourth weekend of April in various locations throughout the State of Texas. This information is made available to all those interested in participating in any way with The Texas Gun Collectors Association.
In 2010 The Texas Gun Collectors Association will celebrate 60 years of Fine Arms Shows. These shows have been a venue for collectors who are interested in the finest, rarest, and most historical arms that exist in the world today. Members from all over the world participate in these shows, which makes them a focal point for people interested in learning about, and collecting these unique pieces of history.
The Texas Gun Collectors Association is known for hosting exciting collectors events in conjunction with their show, such as "The Parade of Walkers" in 2003, and "The Gathering of Patersons" in 2008. These two events brought together in one place the largest number of these rare firearms ever to be gathered for display by members of any collectors association. This is the standard that will be maintained for future shows.
The Texas Gun Collectors Association ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING is open to all members and friends of the TGCA, as well as interested members of the public. There will be a Gun Show held in conjunction with the meeting. The venue for the membership meeting will change every year in an attempt to better cover the great State of Texas with the message of the TGCA , and to enroll new members into the association. The plan is to make the show our face to the world, and the meeting our face to Texas. The meeting will also give us the opportunity to conduct the business of the association without interfering with the Arms Show
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our site, and that it helps you to feel welcome to participate with this fine association either as a member, an exhibitor, or just a member of the public who would like to attend the finest collectible arms show extant.
Ya'll come!
TGCA HISTORY
The 27th of February 1950 saw the birth of The Texas Gun Collectors Association, a group of 27 avid gun collectors, consisting of 26 Texans and one Oklahoman. They met at the Roosevelt Hotel in Waco Texas and chartered this new association. The Texas Gun Collectors Association was organized to bring together those students and serious minded collectors of the arms of yesteryear that were used as tools in the molding of our great Country. Over almost 60 years of existence, the TGCA has been successful in reaching this goal on a world wide basis. Today, the TGCA has members in almost every State of the Union, The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and Mexico.
The Texas Gun Collectors Association Supports The Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights and are longtime affiliates of the National Rifle Association who make a regular appearance at our arms show
The goal of the TGCA has not changed over the years, aiming as it does to provide a congenial association for those collectors engaged in the study of historical, antique, and classic firearms and edged weapons of the years from early history through WW II, and who wish to share their experiences and knowledge with others, especially the newcomer and the young.
THE GUN COLLECTOR
The typical gun collector may be a judge, doctor, secretary, carpenter, engineer, small business owner, farmer, teacher, truck driver or president of a large corporation. Collectors are all these and more. He or she is a provider, a home owner; the collector attends his or her place of worship, is a taxpayer, voter and good citizen. The collector believes in the Constitution, respects our laws and expects to obey them. In a gun collector you will see a patriot, a veteran or possibly a civil servant, and a lover of history who enjoys preserving American traditions through collecting. A collector is a custodian of our nation’s historic artifacts; and is a believer in his or her holdings as works of art, engineering excellence, and examples of master craftsmanship. Firearms collectors are your friends next door, not some lunatic fringe as the liberal press presents them. They are those who believe in the rights of individuals, as well as the rights of the majority. That, my friends, is an encapsulated profile of the American Gun Collector.
